Here Comes the Toon Patrol

Description

I haven't drawn anything for a while, so I decided to get my itchy fingers back to drawing and draw some characters that I've been wanting to draw for quite a while, but have never got around to. :) After seeing some very cool fanart of the Toon Patrol from Who Framed Roger Rabbit on DeviantArt, I felt like drawing them myself. :D

The background for this picture is an actual screenshot from the film - this screenshot was taken just before Benny the Cab comes out of the alleyway after going on stilts (I love that scene - especially where he holds a sign saying 'This lever stupid' :XD: ). I was trying to find a picture of some Hollywood streets that looked 1940's ish, but all the pictures I found were in black in white.... ^^;

So, here we have the Toon Patrol zooming around in their car (I tried to draw it as accurately as I could... but I suck at drawing cars ^^; ) - Smart-Ass is driving (by the way, one little touch I noticed in the film recently that I really like is that different weasels are driving the car in different scenes - Wheezy drives the car when they first crash into the ACME factory, Greasy is driving when they sloppily part outside Eddie Valiant's apartment, and Smart-Ass, probably tired of the bad driving, takes over for the rest of the film :lol: ), Greasy is half watching the road and half lusting over a picture of Jessica Rabbit that he has :XD:, Wheezy is taking it calm and smoking calmly, Psycho is holding onto the wing mirror and enjoying the ride - because he's crazy :lol:, and Stupid is sitting on the top of the car holding a gramophone. I thought it would their equivalent of a gangster's jukebox. :XD:
Also, I was trying to get the perspective on them right - Stupid is lying down on the top of the car, but I'm not sure whether I got the differing heights right. ^^;

I was thinking about what music they could be playing while zooming down the streets, and I was looking for some 1930s-1940s jazz music they could be playing, and I came across THIS track that was used in the Bioshock 2 soundtrack. It strangely seemed to fit this gang of villainous weasels - it's a song called 'Nightmare' by Artie Shaw and His New Music, 1938. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq-gAL… If anyone else has any suggestions as to what else they could be playing, I'm open to suggestions. :D

I had some fun drawing something different - and I may draw these weasels again in the future. :D
