The Coachman

'There is no risk.... They never come back.... As.. BOYS!!! '

Yep.. been a while since I last drew a Disney villain... And what a villain to choose to start off on...

Yep, the Coachman is the fourth of FIVE Disney villains that poor little Pinocchio encounters on his quest to become a realy boy.... and this guy is probably the most deadly....

If you thought the Evil Queen was bad, at least she only tried to kill ONE poor woman.....

The Coachman tricks trouble-making boys into coming to his theme park called Pleasure Island, which is a hooligan's paradise, filled with cigars and cigarettes, things to smash, alcohol, pool and other boys to fight. But, unbeknownst to them, the Coachman uses this theme park to transform the poor boys into DONKEYS! He then proceeds to sell them to establishments like the circus and SALT MINES! And apparantly, he has made a LOT of money this horrible way, and he keeps some of these donkeys to man his stagecoach, which he WHIPS excessively, and he also whips the ones who aren't completely transformed and can still talk!

In the film, we see an unfortunate boy called Lampwick transform into a donkey, and even Pinocchio starts to become a donkey, in perhaps one of the SCARIEST scenes in ANY Disney film (and regarding Return to Oz, the finale of the Fox and the Hound, the Headless Horseman and the death of the Horned King, that's saying a lot....)

And... along with the two conmen in the film, 'Honest' John and Gideon, the Coachman is NEVER brought to justice...

Still, he is an underappreciated Disney villain, and he is loosely based on Mr Bumble from Oliver Twist.

Pinocchio is, in my opinion, an underappreciated film, and this is an underappreciated villain, of many in the film, to go along with it.
