Blank meme: duckyworth.deviantart.com/art/…

EDIT: After getting back into a cartoon series I watched when I was around 13/14, Ruby Gloom, I forgot how much I LOVED the cat character in that - Doom. So, I added her to the list. :meow:

Yep, you could probably imagine this meme being the next one I make... :XD:
I made a top 16 favourite dogs meme, so here's a cat version. :D
Now, before you ask why Gary isn't on here, well, technically he isn't really a cat, so that's why he isn't on here. If I do a cute character meme, he'll probably make it on. :D
And you can probably have guessed who number 1 would be right away.... :rofl:
Anyway, here are the characters. :)

16. Pangur Bán - The Secret of Kells (2009)
Not only is Pangur a very CUTE character, she is probably my favourite character in the whole film. :D I love her design, in the same way how I love how every character in the film looks like a Church tapestry design. :) Pangur Bán herself is actually named after an Old Irish poem, written about the 9th century at or around Reichenau Abbey. It was written by an Irish monk, and is about his cat. Pangur Bán, "white fuller", is the cat's name. Her design, her attitude, and her developing relationship with Brendan are all things I like about her. :) If you ever get a chance, I recommend checking out this film, and I bet she'll be one of your fave characters too. :D

15. Figaro - Disney's Pinocchio (1940)
Again, I just LOVE the personalities of these cats... And Figaro made me remember what I was like when I was a young child. :D I love how Geppetto tells Figaro and Cleo not to eat when he leaves to find Pinocchio after Honest John and Gideon trick him, and when Figaro is about to eat but Cleo stops him, I love when he pulls a strop... :rofl: And strangely enough, I just find him so adorable. :D I feel a bit sorry for him though when Geppetto says to him 'I forgot to open the window....' Can't Geppetto open it himself?! :lol: But still, I loved how he acted like a little child at times... And he was just so cute. :love:

14. Captain Amelia - Disney's Treasure Planet (2002)
Okay, I might be cheating a bit with this one, but she is an anthropmorphic cat, and one of my favourite characters from the film. :) First of all, the fact we have a FEMALE captain is a welcome change. :) Second, I just love her personality, and the relationship she has with Dr Doppler is pretty funny. :D I guess I just really like her design, her can-do attitude, and I just find her really likeable. :D

13. Cat - Coraline (2009)
Does this cat even have a NAME? :XD: But still, if he doesn't have a name, I still love the attitude of this feline. :) When I first watched this film, I actually thought that HE would be the villain, especially in the strange way he looks at Coraline and Whybie when they're talking about Whybie's grandmother's twin sister, but still, I love how he really helps out Coraline and his attitude is pretty fun. :D Even though I still question how he gains the ability to talk in the Other Mother's Realm.... :hmm: But still, even though he mocks Coraline at times, he actually helps get one of the Ghost Eyes and helps Coraline find her real parents, so he does really help out. :)

12. Si and Am - Disney's Lady and the Tramp (1955)
Even though they only appear in one scene in this film, they always crack me up. :XD: True, they're a bit racially insensitive ^^;, and that kind of thing normally annoys me, but here, I just find their song so funny, and I love how they're animated and sing at the same time... And, is it me, or are they like a CAT version of the two evil twins from The Shining? :lol: The first of many villainous Disney cats to make it on here, their appearance may have been brief, but still, it shows that even a character that only gets a small amount of screentime can still be great. :)

11. Mr Whiskers - Frankenweenie (2012)
Now, not only did the TRANSFORMATION scene with this cat actually SCARE me a bit when I first saw Frankenweenie - as well as THAT death :fear: , I also love this cat before the transformation. :D How it's animated when he meows, the way Weird Girl just shakes him, and of course... the poop fortunes.... :lol: The poop fortunes are so funny, and I love how he and the Weird Girl remind me of the the Children of the Corn... :XD: And the scene where Sparky chases him is pretty funny. :D

10. Sawyer - Cats Don't Dance (1997)
As well as being animated by Lauren Faust, I just love this cat. :aww: As well as being much more interesting than Danny... :XD: I really enjoy her design, the way she dances, and she actually seems to me like a anthropomorphic version of my number 1 spot. :) Yet again, her personality is a winner - she's a bit cynical and pessimisstic, and it is funny when she constantly gets maimed when Danny first arrives in Hollywood... And when she shivers when she gets wet. :lol: I find her backstory pretty touching - she started off as a famous dancer, but then was forced into a secretary career when Darla Dimple gained popularity, and no-one wanted to see animals perform anymore. :( And of course, she CAN dance... Is the title of the film being a bit contradictory? :lol:

9. Felicia - Disney's Basil the Great Mouse Detective (1986)
Ah yes, the sumo cat. :rofl: The nickname my sister and I gave this gargantuan moggie - sumo cat - seriously, how MORBIDLY OBESE is this cat?! :lol: Well, no wonder why, whenever Professor Ratigan wants to dispose of someone, he feeds them to this cat.... And I will admit, in the first time I saw this film, that scene did make me a little bit creeped out.... Even if you don't see anything really HAPPEN.... :fear: But at the same time, I can't help but laugh at Felicia - much like Ratigan, she gets some of the funniest expressions in Disney history, especially when Ratigan says 'release him', and Felicia's face goes all flat.... And of course, I LOVE the scene where Toby starts chasing after Felicia, somehow I KNEW that that scene would get worked in.... :XD:

8. Cheshire Cat - Disney's Alice in Wonderland (1951)
In case you haven't noticed yet, a LOT of Disney cats made it on here. :XD: In Cheshire's case, not only is he voiced by Winnie The Pooh (which is always a winning factor :lol:) I love how... confusing he is... Much like all the other Wonderland inhabitants, he is greatly designed - I love how he's ALWAYS smiling and how his eyes just drop out of nowhere - either he suffered the same operation Jack Nicholson did in Tim Burton's Batman, or he's just as crazy as the rest of the Wonderland inhabitants... :XD: I haven't read Alice In Wonderland, but I saw an illustration of him once, and he fits pretty well... The way he lifts his ears up when he meets Alice, whe he just keeps appearing and disappearing, the way he's animated, and this conversation here is pretty funny:
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:By the way, if you'd really like to know, he went... THAT way.
Alice:iconsaysplz:Who did?
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:The White Rabbit.
Alice:iconsaysplz:He did?
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:He did what?
Went that way.
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:Who did?
The White Rabbit!
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:What rabbit?
But didn't you just say, I mean - oh dear...
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:Can you stand on your head? (while he's quite literally STANDING ON HIS HEAD :XD:)

Even though he's not as... hip as the one in Care Bears, or as CREEPY as the one in American McGee's Alice, the Disney Cheshire Cat is still pretty funny and memorable, even if, in his own words:
:iconcheshirecatplz::iconsaysplz:You may have noticed... I'm not all there myself.... (disappears)

7. Lucifer - Disney's Cinderella (1950)
Now, WHY couldn't have Cinderella been all about THIS cat?! :XD: THIS is the funniest character in the whole film... His expressions when he chases after the mice, how desperate he is, like Lady Tremaine, to make Cinderella's life a misery, the way he winces when Lady Tremaine says he needs a bath, and that creepy grin he always pulls..... Being able to fight him in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep was one of the best parts of the game. :lol: He's probably the most memorable part of the film, and is it me, or does he remind you of Blofeld's cat from James Bond when he's on Lady Tremaine's lap... :XD: And when he falls out the window at the end, I love how lands on his paws... :lol: If they made a film JUST about Lucifer being outwitted by the mice, that would be fine for me... Once again, his attitude is just so hilarious... :lol: How expressive can one cat be... Even if it is a bit weird when he's dressed up in a dress sleeve and has to crawl like a caterpillar in one scene... :XD: He's so diabolical... he HAS to be loved... :meow:

6. Doom Kitty - Ruby Gloom (2006-2008)
I know that a lot of you may not have heard of this cartoon, and I admit that it's a bit obscure, but I remembered watching this when I was in secondary school, and I just felt like watching some episodes again.... And it's probably better than I remember. :aww: Mental note - review Ruby Gloom.... :evileye: And one of my favourite characters in the TV series is Ruby Gloom's black cat, who actually turns out to be quite lucky in places, Doom Kitty - who is probably like a gothic cousin of Pangur Ban at times... In fact, they may as well be cousins, as they are quite similar in places! As well as being very cute, and using her tail to communicate in amusing ways throughout many episodes, Doom brings us something else that I often say I like in characters - she can say JUST as much by saying absolutely nothing. Okay, what I mean by that is that even though she never talks, she can in fact communicate rather well - as well as her tail pointing in certain ways, and being great at charades, when she moves at times, her mood, actions and little side comments she gives are signified by violin melodies. As well as reminding me why I love the violin as an instrument, I give the series credit for how well they handled the violin tunes - and I can imagine the composer for the series had fun with this. When Doom is upset, the violin gives a melancholy tone, when she's trying eagerly to catch someone's attention, the violin goes MANIC, when she's amused or happy, the violin gives an upbeat little tune.... You probably get the idea. :giggle: Ever since I was a child, I liked the idea of her feelings and actions being represented by music - kind of like a feline version of Fantasia. And another reason I really like Doom is that, like some other fans of the show, I ship her with my favourite character in the series - Scaredy Bat. Wouldn't they make a cute pair? :lol:

So, hopefully, if anyone reading my reasoning for why Doom is on here HASN'T watched any episodes of the show, I recommend you do - and like the rest of the characters, animation, music, morals and perky gothic theme (sort of like if Tim Burton directed a cartoon show), Doom is one thing that appeals to me a lot about the show.

5. Claudandus - Felidae (1994)
The first of MANY Felidae characters on here. :XD: Not only is he voiced by John Hurt, but he's a computer whizz, AND he's survived multiple operations, AND he's become a murderer trying to perfect a master race of felines... :wow: He ALMOST made it on my tragic characters meme, but seen as he murdered my number 1 spot, he lost out. But still, any cat that can still talk after being DISEMBOWLED is pretty tough, especially for his age.... And I do feel prety sorry for him... when he talks about how the experiments Preterius performed on him tainted his mind and he said he USED to be good... :cries: Oh, John Hurt, you voiced a rabbit, Aragorn, a dog, a monkey and now a cat.... Your resume looks more like a zoo! :lol: And of course, this is another great character you've given your voice to. :)

4. Bluebeard - Felidae (1994)
Charlie from All Dogs Go To Heaven as a cat... strange idea, but it works. :XD: Burt Reynolds does great as this grizzled, beat-up, homely cat who is so unkempt but so funny at the same time... I love how he always looks for food and how he keeps marking his territory saying 'Bluebeard was here'... :lol: Also, when he gets attacked by Claudandus at the end, I love how he still survives that - when Francis drags his bleeding body out, you can see Bluebeard panting as the camera pans away... In the book, he was fun, in the film, he was fun, overall, Bluebeard is a fun cat that I wouldn't want to adopt, but I'd still like to see around... As long as he doesn't call me 'can-opener.' :rofl:

3. Blaze the Cat - Sonic the Hedgehog
She was already on my favourite female characters list, but still, she's probably one of my favourite Sonic characters too. :) Even though I question where the King or Queen is if she's a princess - it's like Princess Eilonwy, does Blaze even RULE a nation? :XD: But still, I loved playing as her in Sonic 2006 - YES, I actually LIKE that game, flaws and all - blame the stupid Sonic fans who kept pestering Sega to release it untested :iconwthplz: - and she was a much better princess than Elise. :lol: And of course, her fire abilities are extremely cool.... And.... I will admit, she's one of the few characters I... have a crush on... :blush: I mean it, when I played Sonic 2006, I just loved her voice, her personality, the way she BREAKDANCES when you finish a stage with her, and of course - being a female character with a Super form is a plus. :) I know a lot of people fancy ROUGE THE BAT, and while I find Rouge to be a bit hot as well :blush: - I know, I have no shame, this is the same person who had a crush on HYZENTHLAY from Watership Down as his first cartoon crush :iconfacepalmplz: - Rouge's voice bothers me - she sounds like she's in her FORTIES... :XD: Blaze's voice is slightly nicer - the same voice of Wave the Swallow - Bella Hudson - Blaze has a nice personality, her powers are cool, of course, the scene where she sacrifices herself in place of Silver is pretty upsetting.... And I hope she makes a comeback in a future Sonic game. :aww:

2. Evil the Cat - Earthworm Jim
My favourite Earthworm Jim villain... for obvious reasons. :lol: Not only is his voice so fun to listen to, I love the boss fight against him in the game, in the cartoon I like the design he has, the things he seeks to fulfil his ultimate goal of destroying the universe (:wow: Wow, now THAT is pretty evil... never mind taking it over, he wants to flat out DESTROY it! :XD:) such as Fuzzy Wuzzy's Fuzzy Animals Pop-Up Book, The Fiend Which Dares Not Speak It's Name, a group of barroom singers who can sing a song that will destroy the universe and numerous other hilarious things.... And being a villain who has a Henchrat voiced by the Crypt Keeper is also a bonus point, as well as having the power of five-inch nails, acid furballs, the dark arts, and... GASP - lawyers... :nuu: I also love his backstory with Peter Puppy in the cartoon, how he's the one who created Peter's alter ego, the episode where Evil Jim ends up making opposite twins of everyone, where Evil's twin is called GOOD the Cat... :rofl: And my fave episode in the series is 'Evil In Love', where Evil falls in love with a dog called Malice who has the same goals as he has, and I love the kind of things the two talk about and it is pretty funny seeing a dog and cat.... kiss. :lol:
Anyway, despite the fact his goal may be a bit... weird, a weird goal for a weird cartoon, Evil the Cat is still one dastardly cat who for some reason is just so much fun to watch. :lol:

1. Felicity - Felidae (1994)
Okay, you probably ALL saw this coming as my number one spot, and she may win the prize for being the character on the most memes... But still, I just LOVE Felicity so much... :love: She's so cute, so tragic, her voice, Tara Strong, is so beautiful, her design is beautiful, the fact she's blind is something you don't often see in cat characters OR in any characters PERIOD, and her death is one of the SADDEST scenes I've EVER seen... :cries: But still, the MAIN reason she's my favourite cat character is down to a personal experience while on holiday... While on holiday in Portugal a few years ago, we stayed in a hotel that looked after some stray cats. Our favourite was a mixed breed cat that we nicknamed Tattiana. :love: She was a really sweet little thing, and despite the cat hair, I loved having her on my lap, and it was so cute how she purred when I stroked her... :love: And, even MORE like Felicity, she was blind in one eye. :( When I saw Felidae, Felicity reminded me SO much of Tattiana, and I think that's one of the most important reasons why I love Felicity so much, and why her death affected me so much, both in the book and in the film. But I prefer her slightly in the film, not because I could actually SEE Francis and Felicity getting together, and NOT being replaced by.... urgh, Nhzompekth - aka Slut-cat :x - but I feel the film made us feel more emotions for her, with the music, voice and beautiful design. We became more emotionally attached to her, and that's why it hurt us so much more when we discovered her fate... :cries:
But still, if I ever owned a cat, or if I could ever find Tattiana again, I bet I would try to own a cat like Felicity. In my opinion, she is the best cat character... :love:

If you feel I missed some, or you would like to comment on my thoughts, feel free to leave a comment. :aww:
